New Word or Not?

Hey, just wanted to ask and say and what not, does anyone know what a number between 10^1 and 1^10 is called? Basically, my tutor and I were trying to note down Standard Form and Indices, and we were explaining how do go about doing it. This is how it was laid out:

Transforming

Big to Small

Example:                      3230 = 3.23 x 10^3

We start with our number and move the decimal point to the left until you have one number left that is not zero on the left of the point.

Step One:         57234.00

Move the decimal place. See instructions above.

5.723400

Step Two:        5.7234 (spaces moved=4)

Count the spaces moved

Then:               number x 10^spaces moved

SO

                        5.7234 x 10^4

For small numbers to bigger numbers you do the opposite.

So, the thing that I wanted to know was in italics. If you do know please leave the answer in the comments box, and I will be eternally grateful! If you do not know, then go away, and if you do not understand a single word of this, YOU ARE STUPID. If there is no word, I will be happy, for I will be able to call it a Richard. Thank you for your consideration.
